Is it normal to poop in your pants sometimes if you're not a small child?

I don't have any kind of problems with my bowels or anything it's just that sometimes I'm lazy and I try to hold it in but wait to long and before I know it it's in my undies. I told my mom about it and she freaked out saying I needed to see a doctor. I can't be the only one who does this right? It's not like I do it much just when I'm extra lazy.
