Why do I have yellow discharge?

I have been having yellow, stretchy discharge in my underwear. Also, yellow discharge dries crusty on my undies, too. I'm 12 and I haven't had my period, or have done no sexual activity. What does this mean? Is it an infection? If so how will the doctor check to see? How should I tell my mom?
